In a project from Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth Hospital NHS trust, UK, 71 Stroke and TIA patients were investigated for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation (PAF), using Zenicor thumb-ECG for 3 weeks in combination with continuous 24 hours Holter ECG. With Zenicor thumb-ECG 14 % of the patients were diagnosed with PAF, but only 7 % were detected with the Holter ECG.
The advantage of Zenicor-ECG is its simplicity. It\’s non invasive and there\’s no need for fixed chest electrodes. The patient can easily take Zenicor-ECG with them to school or sports activities.
After a hospital visit, the patient takes the device home with them for as long an investigation period as is necessary – sometimes several months.
The simplicity and convenience for the patient means that the investigation with Zenicor-ECG can be performed during a longer time period which gives an effective diagnosis without generating loads of data that need analysing.
